Personal Data Protection Policy

The DIFC Centre of Excellence is established in the Dubai International Financial Center to obtain the protection for members provided by the DIFC Data protection Law 2007 (the Law) and the Data Protection Regulations (Regulations) established under the Law. The DIFC Centre of Excellence is committed to protecting the privacy of partners and non partners and ensuring the security of personal data we collect and maintain. We strive to apply best practice in the management of personal information whilst conducting our organisational activities in such a way as to better serve our clients and the community.

Under the Law, Personal Data means any information relating to a natural person who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identification number or to one or more factors specific to his/her biological, physical, biometric, physiological, mental, economic, cultural or social identity.

Your rights

Under the law you have:

  • The right of access to, and rectification, erasure or blocking of, your Personal Data, where the Processing of it does not comply with the Law;
  • The right to be informed of , and on reasonable grounds, to object to, the processing of your Personal Data; and
  • The right to make complaints, on reasonable grounds, to the Commissioner of Data Protection regarding our processing of Personal Data (and the Commissioner may issue orders regarding your complaint as he sees fit).

Our obligations

  • We have an obligation to keep records of our Personal Data processing and inform the Commissioner of Data Protection of our processing operations.
  • We must comply with any direction issued by the Commissioner.

Web Site Information

DIFC Centre of Excellence uses the information provided by you to measure the use of this web site and to improve its content and for the purposes described hereunder.

Whenever you request a page through your browser, navigation and click stream data such as:

  • your IP address,
  • browser and version,
  • operating system,
  • date and time and
  • the site from which you have linked to this site

are stored in a log file and/or database. Any search terms that you enter into the DIFC Centre of Excellence site search are also logged. This information cannot be used to identify specific individuals, and is only used for:

  • web site and system administration,
  • research and development,
  • anonymous user analysis, and
  • to provide accurate statistics to advertisers in the form of aggregated data.
This information, including the email addresses collected, is kept on a secure dedicated server hosted by the DIFC Centre of Excellence as well as servers within the DIFC Centre of Excellence offices.

The email addresses collected from subscriptions or payments  are not sold or disclosed to any third parties. These addresses will only be used by our business to send out DIFC Centre of Excellence communications based on your relationship with us. You will not receive any mailings you did not request.

When a survey appears on the DIFC Centre of Excellence web site, information is collected, compiled and analyzed on an aggregated basis. DIFC Centre of Excellence may share this aggregated data with advertisers or its business partners.

DIFC Centre of Excellence hereby reserves the right to transfer any data collected in the event of an acquisition, full or partial, of the company or its assets, subject to the continuation of your Personal Data rights.

Confidentiality & Security

All our data is stored in written and/or electronic form and we maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect your personal information. We restrict access to personal information about partners and non partners to those employees, corporate partners, joint venture partners and third party providers who need to know that information to deliver our products and services efficiently and effectively. We are committed to ensuring that any Personal Data you provide to us remains confidential and secure.
